Why we exist and what we do
While sectors such as the Automotive Aftermarket and Mining have long had dedicated, tailor-made lubrication partners, the specialised refrigeration industry has not. ACHILLES AND ARES LUBRICANTS t/a AA LUBRICANTS was established to fill that gap, supplying the compressor service, maintenance, repair and remanufacturing companies that keep South Africa's refrigeration and HVAC systems running.

We focus exclusively on the development, design, manufacturing and supply of refrigeration lubricants, engineered for HFC, HFO and CO2 refrigerants across commercial and industrial screw and piston compressors.
Oil breakdown, poor refrigerant compatibility and incorrect viscosity are common causes of repeat compressor failure. Every product in our range is built to protect the compressors you service, repair and remanufacture: fewer callbacks, protected warranty work, and clients' systems that keep running.
Our product portfolio
- RF POE (Polyolester) – for modern HFC and HFO refrigerants such as R-134a, R-410A and R-32; the standard for most commercial and industrial compressors in service today.
- RF POE CO2 – built for the extreme pressures of CO2 (R-744) systems and the shift to natural refrigerants.
- RF PAG (Polyalkylene Glycol) – lubrication, sealing and cooling for automotive A/C compressors.
- RF PAO (Polyalphaolefin) – a universal aftermarket oil for mobile A/C systems running R-134a.
- RF AB (Alkyl Benzene) – for R-22 and other HCFC systems, especially screw compressors.
- RF MO (Mineral Oil) – traditional lubrication for systems on legacy refrigerants.
- RF VP (Vacuum Pump Oil) – for evacuating and dehydrating systems before charging, in RF-VP 32, 46, 68 and 100.
